Spring Newsletter

Mrs.Thomas and Miss. Ashurst

Welcome back

This half term our topic is all about growing and changing. We will be looking at how plants and flowers grow and patterns of change as spring arrive. We have already planted some seasonal vegetables and the children are very involved in looking after our outdoor area. Can we take this opportunity to remind you that, as we have an indoor/ outdoor curriculum, it is important that all children have a pair of wellingtons and suitable outdoor wear in school at all times. Children change their own footwear as they move between their indoor and outdoor play and they need to be able to take their own shoes on and off.

In English we are looking at stories such as Jack and the Beanstalk and The Enormous Turnip. We will be comparing these stories with Non-Fiction Texts about plants and vegetables. We do phonics every day after lunch and your children are progressing well, using their phonics to support their reading and writing. Children need their reading books in school every day.

In maths we will be securing our understanding of adding and taking away using numbers to 10. We will also be developing our understanding of time, length and weight, position and direction.

Your children now have a home Learning Journey book, and thanks to the lovely pictures and information you put into them we are able to complete some elements of their profiles. We love seeing what your children do outside school. Thank you for your support.

If you have any boxes, tubs, cartons, material or bags and shoes that we could have to enhance our areas, they will be gratefully accepted.
