Reception Newsletter Spring 1

Happy New Year and welcome back to school. We hope you have had a restful Christmas and are ready for the busy year ahead. We are looking forward to working together with you so that your child continues to have a very exciting and productive year. This half term we will be investigating and exploring all about Polar Regions and the animals that live there. We will be looking at patterns of change and how our local environment has changed from Autumn to Winter. We will be investigating changes in state and predicting what might happen.

In English we will be looking at the differences between fiction and non-fiction books. Some of the books that your children will be bringing home will be non-fiction and may appear slightly more difficult. These books are used to enable your child to retrieve information. Please can we remind you that your child needs their reading book in school every day to enable us to read with them. Please could you also try to read with your child at home and date and sign their planners when they have read.

In Mathematics, we will be consolidating numbers to 20. We will be adding and subtracting, problem solving and learning appropriate mathematical language.

P.E. remains on a Tuesday, please have a P.E. kit in school. Can I also please remind you that Early Years has an indoor and outdoor curriculum, therefore your child needs an appropriate outdoor coat and willies in school eeveryday.

Sadly, Miss. Gerrard has left us to start an exciting new job. A new Teaching Assistant will be joining us in a couple of weeks. If you have any concerns or any questions at all, please speak to Miss. Kehoe or myself.
