Year 1 2017 - 2018

Miss Bovingdon

Miss Gerrard

Miss Davies

Welcome to Year 1

This year we have an excited group of 29 Year ones.

At the beginning of the year you will notice changes in the way your child is learning.  In Year 1 all children work in groups or individually to produce pieces of work every lesson.  This work is often hands on and sometimes results in a photograph being stuck into your child’s book and a speach bubble to explain what they have done and learnt.

All work is differentiated meaning that your child is working at their level.  I expect everyone to have a go and do their best every day.

Reading is incredibly important for your child’s progress.  We will read with your child at least twice a week and appreciate you reading at home as often as you can.  Please sign your child's homework diary to let us know they have  read.

Look out for our ‘Out of this world’ rockets.  Your child will receive one of these to tell you to come and see a particular piece of work.  Rockets are given when

  • Your child does their best
  • All of the objectives have been met
  • Work is neat and clean

Thursday 3.30pm - 4pm is our drop in day.  This is an opportunity for you to come and talk with child about their learning and work.  We are also available when you bring your child to school and collect them at the end of the day.  Please do not hesitate to speak to us.
